I missed seeing this before. So your parents obviously did not grow up plain? There must be an interesting story there.
@musicaljean - Yes, Jean, there is. My dad ran away from home when he was about 13. The authorities picked him up and instead of sending him home, (I never knew what the problem was that he ran away) but placed him in a Mennonite foster home. Later after he and Mom were married he just suggested one Sunday evening; "Let's go visit the Mennonite church tonight." Mom had no clue what Mennonites were but apparently was game because they went. Ended up joining and the rest is history. She did say that all those coverings scared her as she had no idea what they meant.
